We are delighted to announce that Amy Peters, Director at Beneficial Family Wills, has become one of the first in the country to qualify and achieve the prestigious new title of CILEX Chartered Paralegal.

This newly developed designation, awarded by the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) and recently approved by the Privy Council, provides formal recognition for professionals who can demonstrate extensive legal knowledge, practical competence, and ethical standards across key legal responsibilities.

The introduction of this status marks a significant shift in how legal professionals are acknowledged — especially those who have forged successful careers via non-traditional routes. As CILEX President Yanthe Richardson noted:

“This is a significant step to support people who have built careers in the legal profession in non-traditional ways. This new cadre of experienced and accountable professionals will do much for the provision of legal services by raising standards and injecting greater diversity.”

With mandatory listing on a public-facing, regulated register, the “Chartered” title provides additional transparency and trust for clients seeking professional legal services.

Reflecting on her achievement, Amy said:

“I was really pleased to have been invited to participate in this initial cohort... and then the work began! The paper was extremely detailed, covering not only my academic achievements but also my specialist legal knowledge, client care skills, business management and ethical standards.”

At BFW, we are incredibly proud of Amy’s accomplishment and what it represents — not just for her personally, but for our entire team and clients. It underscores the deep legal expertise within our firm and highlights our commitment to supporting professional growth and upholding the highest standards in all we do.

We look forward to supporting our wider team on similar pathways, continuing to build a practice grounded in expertise, trust, and client care.
