International Women’s Day has been running for the past 100 years and celebrates the women’s rights movement highlighting women’s suffrage, gender equality, social and economic, political, and the cultural achievements of women. The theme for 2023 is #EmbraceEquity which is about being treated equally. Women all over the world, for one reason or another are not treated equally, in their homes, workplace or in their cultures generally. We feel fortunate enough that in this day and age we are able to go to work as well as being wives and mothers.

Celebrating International Women's Day today in the BTWC office is Amy, Michelle, and Kelly.

As 21st century modern women all three of us ladies work and juggle busy family lives including the care of our children, elderly parents, and in-laws. Yet in our work here at BTWC helping others with their own Wills and Trusts ‘helping us to help you we see the value and importance of being able to care for our loved ones by providing for them in a Will or Trust for when we are no longer with them. If you as a working woman, mother, daughter, or wife and have not yet considered making your Will, you may want to get in touch with us to explore your options.

International Women’s Day is a good day to reflect on the important women in your lives – those who have inspired you and have been a positive impact on our lives. We too have been enlightened and inspired by certain women in our lives:

Amy -My great friend Heather is a source of continued inspiration to me. She has had so many personal challenges over the last 4 years but continues to move forward in all that she does. Although faced with her own health challenges and the passing of her dearly loved mother she continues to achieve great things in her career, support her friends and family and nonchalantly climb Mount Snowden on a weekend. She is a fantastic Godmother and role model to my two sons and her guiding advice to them is to “always be the better person” and treat everyone with kindness. We all need more people like her in our lives and I’m grateful everyday she’s in ours.’

Michelle - ‘my sister, who we affectionately call “Dora the Explorer” is a great inspiration to me as she has so much ‘get up and go’, she has had adventures all over the world including; Everest Base Camp, Machu Picchu, and Mont Blanc to name but a few! She has inspired me to get fit and one day we hope to do the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage walk together.

Kelly – ‘my lecturers and other academics I have gained so much from at university and throughout my career have inspired me so much. As working women who have families, they have juggled these whilst striving to gain their PhD’s and lecture, carry out research, write papers and books and work in the field. They have given me the courage and strength to pursue my studies whilst juggling my own family, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.’

Tell us which women inspire you!
