Preparing for your Will appointment

We appreciate that making a Will may feel daunting but we’re here every step of the way to guide you through the process.
Your Will appointment may take place over Zoom or the telephone, whichever makes you feel more comfortable.  If geography allows, we may even be able to meet in person. Your initial appointment could take just 30 minutes, but we’ll be led by you in order for us to understand what may be on your mind and how we can help.

But what will we talk about?
Well, the key aspects we will discuss are;

People: Your family, friends and people who are important to you
Making a Will is the greatest gift you can give to the people you leave behind. It’s worth thinking about the people you may wish to benefit from your Will (your beneficiaries) along with those you may wish to protect (your children) and any key roles you would like people to fulfil such as Executors, Guardians and Trustees. Having names and addresses to hand can be useful.

Possessions & Property: What you have and what you would like to gift
Your Will is a unique document unlike no other. Whether you have £100 to give to charity or a family home to pass on to children, we can help you to structure your Will in the most clear and tax efficient manner to avoid any confusion or issues later on. Have a think about who you would like to receive what, and we can do the rest.

Personalisation: Proposing personalise solutions
Once we’ve identified the people that are important to you and what you would like to gift, we will provide some tailored suggestions and options for you to consider in order to enable us to draft your Will for you. We’ll talk about these options during our meeting and can provide a written proposal after our meeting for your consideration.

Anything else? Well, if you have any historic Will documents (if you’re updating your will), details of any property title deeds or anything of particular relevance, you may wish to dig those out in advance of our meeting. We’ll also need to see some ID documentation for yourself for security purposes.

Oh, and don’t forget that a cup of tea or coffee are optional for your meeting too! We look forward to chatting with you.

Give us a call on 01522 500823 to book your appointment or send us an email to enquiries@btwc.co.uk and we'll call you.
